Fish stocked and ready to catch these holidays

Wednesday 4 July, 2012

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Peter Walsh today announced the Family Fishing Lakes program which has seen Albert Park Lake stocked with Rainbow Trout for the first time since 2003.

Kids can break out a rod and reel and chase the 1000 rainbow trout stocked these holidays into Albert Park Lake.

Rainbow trout are a great fish for children or those trying fishing for the first time, because they are relatively easy to catch and they take a variety of baits and lures.

Anglers are reminded that a daily bag limit of five trout applies, of which only two can exceed 35cm.

For more details refer to the Victorian Recreational Fishing Guide, which is available free of charge from most good fishing tackle shops, Department of Primary Industries offices or by ringing the Customer Service Centre on 136 186.
