Free Family Fun Day at National Rhododendron Gardens for school holidays

Tuesday 1 April, 2014

Come and explore the iconic National Rhododendron Gardens on Tuesday 15 April as Parks Victoria invites families and children of all ages to partake in the annual Free Family Fun Day.

The Free Family Fun Day runs from 10:00am to 3:00pm and features hands-on activities including the Rhododendron Walk Challenge, reptile and marsupial handling, circus performances, Stax the Didgeman workshop, kick-to-kick football and appearances from Parks Victoria’s Ranger Roo.

“The family fun day at the National Rhododendron Gardens is a great and inexpensive school holiday outing for the family. There are lots of fun and creative activities for kids to engage in, and parents can join in or relax on the lawns,” said Parks Victoria Manager of the Dandenong Ranges Gardens, David Adeson.

“The gardens are the perfect place for a picnic and you can also purchase food and drinks on the day to support the local school and CFA,”

“The National Rhododendron Gardens are a wonderful natural and cultural destination. If you have never visited the gardens there’s plenty to explore and you will be amazed by the views that open up across the Yarra Valley to the Warburton Ranges,” said Mr Adeson.

“The family fun day is a great example of Parks Victoria’s ‘Healthy Parks Healthy People’ approach and provides an opportunity to get outdoors in one of Melbourne’s most beautiful mountain landscapes.”

The National Rhododendron Garden is located on The Georgian Road, Olinda. (Melway Reference Map 66 K6)
