Mount Zero Road temporarily closed for bridge works
Friday 27 July, 2012
The Halls Gap-Mt Zero Road will be closed between Roses Gap Road and Golton Track (Golton Gorge Picnic Area) from Monday 23 July to 6 August 2012. The closure is due to flood recovery works on the Briggs Creek Bridge.
The $70,000 project is part of the Victorian State Government $19.7 million flood recovery project.
David Roberts, Ranger in Charge of Grampians National Park said information signs and an alternate route map to Hollow Mountain and Mt Zero will be placed at the point of the road closures.
“By taking the Roses Gap Road to the Western Highway, and then entering the park via the northern access point at Flat Rock Road, visitors can make their way to places like Hollow Mountain and Mt Zero,” Mr Roberts said.
Mr Roberts hoped the project would be completed quickly and the road reopened to several popular Grampians locations.
“We apologise for any inconvenience due to this closure. The works are necessary in repairing the outer beams on both sides of the bridge with reinforcing from steel rods and poured concrete formwork. The bridge will then be reinstated to its former rating and both lanes of the bridge reopened.”
