New Swan Bay Jetty deck to give slips the flick

Wednesday 21 September, 2011

Demolition of Swan Bay’s ageing jetty will start in late September ahead of a $380,000 overhaul of the structure set to extend its life and boost safety with a new anti‐slip fibreglass mesh deck.

The new 282 metre long jetty will receive a complete re‐build with strengthened piles, new beams, steel handrail and non‐slip fibreglass mesh desk. Drysdale company Elstone Diving Services Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to undertake the works.

The work follows completion of the adjacent boat ramp landing jetty earlier in the year which also received the fibre glass mesh deck treatment. Works on the new jetty start in late September and are due for completion in November, ahead of the peak summer holiday period.

For further information call Parks Victoria on 13 1963.
