Declaration of boating activity exemption – Lake Moodemere

Parks Victoria as the declared waterway manager for Lake Moodemere (under the Marine Act 1988) declare under section 203(3) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) that vessels involved in the Moodemere Slalom Classic are exempt from:


  1. The requirements of Clause 129.1 of Schedule 129 of the Notice under section 15(2) of the Marine Act 1988  – vessels prohibited from an area south east of the boat launching ramp
    1. another vessel is operating at more than 5 knots within the area
    2. for more than 15 minutes if there is another vessel waiting to operate;
  2. The requirements of Clause 129.5 of Schedule 129 of the Notice under section 15(2) of the Marine Act 1988  – a person must not operate a vessel with an engine used for propulsion at a speed of more than 5 knots in an area 180 metres north of the boat ramp to an area delineated by yellow buoys at Picnic Point when;


on condition that all occupants of all powered vessels involved in the event (including rescue boats) are wearing an approved PFD at all times.


The exemptions apply from 7.00am to 8.00pm from Friday 17 February to Sunday 19 February 2017 provided that the stated safety controls and undertakings detailed in the Event Application and associated documentation are adhered to.
