NOTICE CONTROLLING NAVIGATION IN THE VICINITY OF WORKS
Parks Victoria, as the declared waterway manager for the waters of the Patterson River upstream of Nepean Highway Bridge to Eumemmering Creek, makes the following notice under section 211(1)(b)(i) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (the Act).
The notice published in the Victoria Government Gazette, No. S83 dated 1 March 2018, in relation to the loading zone exclusion zone on the Patterson River is replaced with the following notice.
For the purposes of the works activity proposed by Southern Program Alliance (SPA), sub-contractors Fitzgerald Constructions Australia Pty Ltd will establish a loading zone to facilitate barge construction and loading and unloading of plant and materials to construct a bridge over Patterson River. The navigation and other movement of vessels in the works area is prohibited, excluding vessels involved in the works, Parks Victoria vessels and Victoria Police vessels.
The loading zone works area is adjacent to the western end of the Patterson River carpark precinct. There are two work area arrangements to facilitate barge movements:
- Works Exclusion Zone One.
Barge not berthed at loading zone – 46 metres wide extending 30 metres from shore.
- Works Exclusion Zone Two.
Barge berthed at loading zone – 46 metres wide extending 35 metres from shore.
The work area arrangements will be activated and marked by water communication buoys. The transit fairway adjacent to the loading zone works area will be open to one-way vessel traffic only. Downstream vessels (transiting in from Port Phillip) have right of way.
This notice has effect for the duration of works from the time of publication of this notice to 5.00pm on 30 November 2018.
Times and dates are subject to change. Changes to times or dates will be advertised on Parks Victoria website via a Notice to Mariners (NTM).
