Mooring location: Balnarring, Western Port 

Set aside name: Balnarring West & Balnarring East

Melways reference: Map 612 M10

Boundaries
There are two set aside areas known as East and West mooring grounds. West area is approximately 300 metres seaward along the Balnarring foreshore extending from the East to the West for approximately 1.6kms out from the Balnarring Village. The East mooring ground is a set aside directly out from the beach access from Lord Somers Camp approximately 70 meters each side of Lord Somers bridge crossing extending approximately 180 seaward in a Westerly direction.

Status
Some sites are available in the Balnarring West mooring area directly seaward of the Western Port Yacht club. The mooring area West of the Western Port Yacht Club is currently to capacity and no sites are available. Balnarring East has limited space and only a few sites are available.

No boat ramp access. Car parking available at Yacht Club and foreshore parking. Access to East mooring ground is only through Lord Somers Camp or beach access from the Western Port Yacht Club.

Exposed to SSE and SW winds. Sheltered waters N and NW winds.

Tackle requirements

  • Buoys: Identification buoys are to be attached to the mooring at all times and the site ID number must be clearly visible and marked on both buoys. Two buoys are required one being an inflatable type (orange in colour) of no less than 600mm in diameter with the other being a smaller (orange in colour) pick up buoy.
  • Chain: As specified by an Authorised Mooring Tackle Contractor
  • Weights: As specified by an Authorised Mooring Tackle Contractor

Tender arrangements
Tenders not permitted to moor but can remain on mooring whilst mother vessel is at sea.

Access
No boat ramp access. Car parking available at Yacht Club and foreshore parking. Access to East mooring ground is only through Lord Somers Camp or beach access from the Western Port Yacht Club.
