Located in a tranquil area of the campground, Wilderness Retreats at Buchan Caves Reserve provide a “close to nature” experience of bush camping with all the conveniences of modern cabins. The Retreats sit on an innovative modular galvanised steel frame that does not require concrete footings.
This is low impact accommodation that touches the earth lightly.
All Wilderness Retreats have:
- a timber deck and a lockable door
- a queen size bed and 2 bed side tables (bed linen, doonas, blankets and towels provided)
- a trundle single bed (located under the queen size bed)
- a futon chair that converts to a single bed
- a blanket box and a towel rack
- a small fridge
- table and chairs inside and on the deck
- lights inside and on the deck
A clean and well lit toilet and shower facility is close by. Please note that smoking is not permitted inside the Wilderness Retreats.
Wilderness Retreats are set up for couples but can sleep doubles or up to four people by making use of the trundle bed and futon. To preserve the experience for all guests, and to allow wildlife to roam safely, no cars are allowed inside the Wilderness Retreat area. There is a car park for guests conveniently located near the Retreat. A luggage trolley is available at the car park to assist with the short walk to your Retreat.
Wilderness Retreat guests can make use of the communal kitchen. The well equipped kitchen contains:
- cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils and tea towels
- stainless steel benches and sinks
- a gas cook top
- a full size fridge
- hot and cold water
- tea and coffee making facilities, a microwave oven and a toaster
There is also a covered, tranquil BBQ area with seating for guests outside the kitchen. Guests just need to bring their own food and drinks.
To make your experience enjoyable, we recommend you also bring warm clothes as there are no heaters, comfortable shoes, insect repellent, and a torch.
