The wilderness retreat provides a ‘close to nature’ experience of bush camping with all the conveniences of modern cabins. They are located in a tranquil area and are designed to be low impact and “touch the earth lightly”. Each retreat site sits on an innovative steel frame that does not require concrete footings. They are completely weatherproof and include a covered hardwood timber deck and a lockable canvas door.
Cape Conran Coastal Park is located 18km west of the small township of Marlo. The Wilderness Retreat is accessed via the Yeerung River Road. It is past the Park office and the Cape Conran cabin area.
To preserve the experience for all guests, and allow wildlife to roam safely, no cars are allowed inside the wilderness retreat area. There is a car park for guests conveniently located near the retreat. A luggage trolley is available at the car park to assist with the short walk to your retreat.
Advance bookings and payment are required. To book, visit: Cape Conran Camping and Cabins or call (03) 5154 8438.
There are 5 wilderness retreats available.
Wilderness retreats are set up for couples but can comfortably sleep up to four people. Each contains a queen size bed, two bedside tables, a blanket box, towel rail, a table and chairs, a single futon chair that converts to a single bed, a single trundle bed under the queen size bed and a small fridge.
Toilet and shower facilities are close by.
All linen and towels are provided, as is crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.
