Improving play opportunities at Jells Park

The Victorian government has allocated $3m in funding to improve play opportunities at Jells Park and we would like to hear your ideas.

Jells Park is a well-established regional scale urban park nestled in the Dandenong Creek Valley, Wheelers Hill, away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Jells Park has long been a popular destination for walking, picnic, play and informal social sport, attracting over 900,000 visitors a year.

Developing a new vision for play at Jells Park

Jells Park has three playgrounds which have been loved by generations of children.  Best practise provision for play has changed significantly in recent years, and the timing is right to ensure that Jells Park remains a key regional destination for children and their families.

This renewed focus on improving play spaces presents an opportunity to increase accessibility and to further connect  children and families to the park. The enhancement of associated facilities to support play spaces, such as seats, picnic tables, signage and toilets will be a priority to ensure integration of the whole visitor experience. Future opportunities for nature-play based programs, such as bush kinder, school excursions and Junior Ranger activities, will also be considered throughout the design process.

Parks Victoria is interested in hearing from the community and stakeholders their ideas for how play opportunities at Jells Park can be improved. The outcomes of the community and stakeholder engagement will form part of the concept design for the next stage of the project.
