Greenvale Reservoir Park Upgrades

Parks Victoria’s $1.4 million upgrade of Greenvale Reservoir Park in Melbourne’s north will preserve and enhance a valuable local recreational area for generations to come.

Park users and local residents are invited to have their say about the proposed park improvements.

Greenvale Reservoir Park is located in an increasingly built-up area. It offers a tremendous opportunity to secure a tranquil, open recreational area for a diverse and rapidly growing local community.

Some people in the local community, especially to the south, have been in the area for two and occasionally three generations. They have enjoyed coming to this park for picnics, walks and other outdoor leisure activity with their families.

The park is being upgraded in the next 12 months in the following ways:

  • Better access at Somerton Rd, Greenvale.
  • Improved visitor facilities at the main picnic areas, such as shelters, barbecues and seating, and the children’s playground.
  • A new walking area in the north of the park.
  • New toilet facilities at the Cypress Picnic Area and Brodies Lakes.

Changes to the park follow work by Melbourne Water to upgrade the reservoir’s dam wall and better protect water supply for Melbourne’s western and northern suburbs.

Parks Victoria manages the park on behalf of Melbourne Water, which funded Parks Victoria to improve the rest of the park, resulting in the current round of upgrade works.

The commitment to Greenvale Reservoir Park meets Park Victoria’s vision of Healthy Parks, Healthy People by making them accessible to all.

Parks Victoria looks forward to completing the works to improve local picnic areas, places to walk and cycle and opportunities to relax and watch family sport or enjoy the shade of the trees.
