Davies Plain Drive

Davies Plain drive

High plains & history.

Take a challenging adventure through remote Alpine landscapes, taking in Snow Gum woodlands, tranquil riverside campsites, historic huts and panoramic mountain views.

Best undertaken over a number of days, the tour includes demanding 4WD tracks in some of Victoria's most isolated and scenic country. The effort is rewarded with ’Man from Snowy River' landscapes, clear stream fishing, and true high country camping.

The loop drive is best accessed through Omeo and Benambra, and also reached via Tom Groggin (north) and Corryong or Tallangatta (northwest).

Highlights include big views, imposing forests, meandering streams and the wildflower-strewn Davies Plain Ridge.

Enjoy views across the Victorian Alps to Kosciuszko National Park from Mount Pinnibar summit. Mt Gibbo Peak and nearby Mount Anderson Peak also offer breathtaking vistas.

Historic cattlemen's huts provide a living reminder of the High Country's past, and beautiful mountain streams offer a chance to catch a wily brown trout for dinner.
