Citizen science and partner programs

Parks Victoria partners with several organisations to support schools in getting an even greater hands-on learning experience in parks.

Earthwatch Australia

Parks Victoria and Earthwatch Australia have partnered to help gather important knowledge about the effects of climate change through their national program, Climatewatch. Schools are encouraged to get involved by incorporating one of our climatewatch trails into their park field trip or excursion, or adopting a climatewatch trail and becoming regular citizen scientists!

Kids Teaching Kids

Kids Teaching Kids aims to inspire future environmental leaders by raising awareness and driving action on local and global environmental issues.

With locations all over Victoria, having your students involved in learning about their local park and then sharing their learning with other students from across the state is a great way to motivate your students to become active in conserving Victoria’s natural places.

Sustainability Victoria

ResourceSmart Schools is a Victorian Government program that helps schools benefit from embedding sustainability in everything they do, and take action on climate change.

One of the five modules available to schools covers biodiversity. Your school may like to compare the biodiversity found on your school grounds with that found in your nearest park or reserve.

Sea Search

The Sea Search program is a great way to learn and explore the marine environment while collecting important information on its health and condition.

Tangaroa Blue Foundation

Parks Victoria supports schools and community groups to help us and the Tangaroa Blue Foundation to fight against marine debris by adopting their local beaches and conducting clean ups and data collection.
