Stage 2: Dromana to Blairgowrie; Werribee River to Williamstown and Phillip Island

Implementation of Stage 2 zones will commence in December 2011 and is expected to be completed by March 2012.

Werribee River to Williamstown

The changes include:

  • Werribee – removal of PWC Only Zone at Beach Road, Werribee South (Wyndham Council ramp).
  • Werribee River Channel – PWC can use the launching ramps in the river, subject to the 5 knot speed limit. Swimming is prohibited in the Channel.
  • New Altona No Boating zone (no vessels – swimming only) east of Altona Pier to approximately 200m off shore.
  • New shared wind sport area from between Romani and McBain Streets to opposite north east end of Apex Park, to approximately 200m off shore.
  • New Williamstown No Boating zone (no vessels – swimming only) from Williamstown Life Saving Club to the groyne at the eastern end of Williamstown Beach to approximately 200m off shore.
  • Improved visibility of aids to navigation and easy to understand regulatory signage.

Phillip Island

The changes include:

  • Cowes - removal of redundant Water Ski access lanes at Saltwater Creek and in front of Coghlan Road.
  • New No Boating Zone (no vessels – swimming only) at Cowes Beach (each side of Cowes Jetty) to approximately 100m off shore.
  • Improved visibility of aids to navigation and easy to understand regulatory signage.

Dromana to Blairgowrie

The changes include:

  • New No Boating Zone (no vessels – swimming only) at Dromana Bay Life Saving Club to approximately 200m off shore.
  • New No Boating Zone (no vessels – swimming only) between Balmoral and Mason Avenues, Safety Beach to approximately 500m off shore.
  • New No Boating Zone (no vessels – swimming only) at Rosebud Life Saving Club to approximately 500m off shore.
  • New No Boating Zone (no vessels – swimming only) east of Rye Pier to groyne to approximately 200m off shore.
  • Redefined Water Ski Access lane at Anthony’s Nose, Dromana to approximately 500m off shore.
  • New shared wind sport area between north east of Boneo Road & opposite Rosebud Hospital, to approximately 500m off shore.
  • New shared wind sport area between Weeroona & Marshall Streets, Rye to approximately 500m off shore.
  • Removal of Waterski Access Lanes at Link Drive and near Victoria Street, Safety Beach. 
  • Removal of Waterski Access Lane near Laura Street, Tootgarook.
  • New marking of 5 knot zone to approximately 500m off shore from Martha Point, Dromana to Blairgowrie. 
  • Improved visibility of aids to navigation and easy to understand regulatory signage.
