Merri Creek Parklands
A new regional park for Melbourne's north is being established along a 15 kilometre stretch of the Merri Creek. The 840 hectare Parklands will extend from the Ring Road in Thomastown through to Craigieburn East Road in Craigieburn.
The parklands will protect native grassland sites of state and national significance in this rapidly urbanising growth corridor of Melbourne, as well as providing opportunities to exercise, relax, socialise and enjoy nature.
Planning for the Merri Creek Parklands has progressed to the development of a Strategic Management Plan. This follows on from the Strategic Directions Statement and the now completed Master Plan.
The Strategic Management Plan will be developed in consultation with key stakeholders and relevant government agencies. A Draft Strategic Management Plan will be released for public comment in the near future.
