Restoration of Henderson House Landing, Footscray

Parks Victoria has commenced upgrade works to restore Henderson House Landing. The landing has been closed to the public since February 2018 after the collapse of the crossheads supporting the deck rendered the structure unsafe.

Parks Victoria has engaged contractors, Simpson Constructions Co. Pty Ltd to undertake the works, which are expected to be complete by December 2018.

Works will include replacing all piles, crossheads, beams and decking.

In order to ensure continued access to the Maribyrnong River, a temporary floating landing has been available for public use since the landing’s closure earlier this year.

This temporary landing will continue to be available for use throughout the construction period.

The $1 million suite of works comes from an $800,000 commitment from the Victorian Government and a $200,000 contribution from the Maribyrnong City Council.

The new structure will ensure that Henderson House Landing will be safe and accessible for pedestrians and boating into the future.
