The mooring ground is broken into two areas HBS and HNS. A line directly North from the main Jetty approach approximately 400 metres then approximately 1.1 kms East then approximately 350 South returning Westerly direction approximately 900 meters back to the main jetty head. At approximately 750 meters in a Southerly direction located outside the main channel a mooring ground is set aside locally known as the “Hum Bug”. (check Hastings Mooring Association for GPS coordinates of this area).

Sheltered waters in most weather conditions can be exposed to strong Northerly or Southerly winds.
- Buoys: Identification buoys are to be attached to the mooring at all times and the site ID number must be clearly visible and marked on both buoys. Two buoys are required one being an inflatable type (orange in colour) of no less than 600mm in diameter with the other being a smaller (orange in colour) pick up buoy.

Tenders not permitted to moor but can remain on mooring whilst mother vessel is at sea.
