Tamboon Inlet


Access is by boat only. Car-based camping is available at the nearby Peachtree Creek Reserve, situated on the eastern shores of Tamboon Inlet. Visit the Peachtree Creek Reserve page for more information.

No booking, no fees. Camping is on a first in, first-served basis.

There are 6 campgrounds available, with one campsite per campground except for T2 and T4 which has two campsites available. Each campsite is unpowered with a maximum of 6 people per site.

Walks around Tamboon Inlet

Enjoy bird watching, boating and camping in this peaceful estuary featuring an island and sandbanks, home to a wide variety of birds.

Clinton Rocks Walk

4 hours, 8 km return

Walk east along the beach from the entrance of Tamboon Inlet to explore the giant granite boulders covered in brilliant orange lichen at Clinton Rocks. The walk boasts spectacular views of the coast, and on a clear day the Point Hicks Light Tower is visible.

This walk is only accessible via boat.

Warning: Rocks may be slippery and this area is subject to large, unexpected waves.

Sand Dune Walk

10 mins, 300m return

Enjoy amazing views of the surrounding forest and coastline from the sand dune summit located on the south-western side of Tamboon Inlet.
