A ballot is held between 1 July - 15 July 2019 for booking Tidal River camping and accommodation (except Wilderness Retreats) for the period from late December until late January. Minimum stays apply.

Applicants will be notified by email with the result of their request once the ballot and allocation process is complete.
What is available? What about overnight hikes?
Tidal River camping and roofed accommodation including Lodges, Units, Huts and Cabins are available using this system. Wilderness Retreats and overnight hikes can be booked online at any time.
How can I improve my chances of being allocated a site?
The ballot is a randomised process, once the ballot is drawn applicants are allocated based on their draw number. Allocation is determined by availability and the preferences you select within the application.
Site sizes vary and large sites are in limited supply. If you choose to accept only larger sites then you may miss out if the larger ones have already been taken. By choosing the minimum site size required for your needs we can allocate that size or any size greater to you.
The more particular you are about the sites you will accept, the less opportunity we will have to meet your needs.
It is generally harder to meet the requirements of a large group than for individual site requests. If you are booking as a group, you will be allocated as a group. Should your group be unsuccessful, individuals in the group can specify (use the "additional requirements" field) that they are happy to accept a site which is separate from the rest of the group in order for the application to be successful.
Do I need to register?
No, registration is not required when submitting a booking request but you are required to enter your details including payment information during the checkout process.
Are there alternative dates available?
The ballot is for the defined summer period only.
Outside of defined peak season booking periods Tidal River campsites can be booked online. Sites are unallocated and you may choose your site on arrival on a first come, first served basis.
What if I want to stay longer than the minimum stay?
The nights surrounding these dates fall outside of our mandatory booking period. Outside of defined peak season booking periods Tidal River campsites can be booked online. Sites are unallocated and you may choose your site on arrival on a first come, first served basis.
What if I have difficulty when I try to submit my request?
Call the Parks Victoria Information Centre for assistance. Information Centre hours: 9am – 5pm seven days a week. Phone 13 1963 within Australia or +61 3 8627 4700 internationally.
In the event my preferences are taken, can I indicate that I would accept any other campsite?
Yes, customers can elect to take any site available as allocated by Parks Victoria.
Is there a waiting list for people who miss out?
If sites become available due to cancellations, online applicants who missed out will be contacted and offered the newly available sites.
Can I be added to the waiting list after the application close?
Yes we can add you to the bottom of the waiting list.
Can you do an application for me?
We can however we prefer that you do the application yourself as you can make sure that all your details are correct. If we do your application for you it is your responsibility to check your email to make sure all your information is correct.
When will we know if we are successful?
We will do our best to process the ballot as soon as we can. We anticipate the accommodation ballots to be completed between the 16th – 19th of July. The camping ballot takes a lot longer due to the number of applicants and sites to allocate. Notifications of this ballot will be in August. Please make sure you have sufficient funds on the credit card provided during this time for your application to be successful.
Can I add a booking to my submitted application?
The best way to do this is to cancel your original application and submit a new one with both sites. This way you are agreeing to the new amount of the application.
Can I request sites?
Yes. Please put as much information as you want in the guest notes to help get you a site you like. This can be site numbers, avenues or even areas. If there is an area you do not want to be in then list that too. We do our best to accommodate with the information we have. However, if you come out late in the draw there might not be much choice.
I have applied for a campsite but would like to change my preferences. Am I able to do this?
The ballot period is open between 1 July - 15 July 2019 and applications can be made at anytime during this period. Once your application has been submitted changes cannot be made. After the ballot has closed all applications are final. Parks Victoria will allocate and process your booking once the ballot draw has been run.
I have applied for a campsite but have changed my mind. Can I cancel my application?
You can cancel your application any time before 9am on the 15th of July. After this time all applications are final and cancellation fees apply for successful applications.
Can I make an application for several sites for family and friends?
Yes. Group applications can be made by adding additional sites to your cart after you enter your initial site request. Only select the "Buy Now" option once all site details have been entered. A maximum of 10 sites can be requested per transaction.
Each campsite should be registered with a different contact name. You need to provide the details (name, phone, vehicle registration) of the other members of your group.
Payment for group bookings is the responsibility of the group leader.
I have booked several sites for groups of family and friends - how do they know which sites we have booked?
If a customer makes a booking on behalf of family or friends it is the responsibility of the customer to advise their party which sites have been booked. It is also the responsibility of the customer to advise their party of the itinerary and booking number as this will be requested upon entry to the park.
If I apply for a group, are we guaranteed sites together? What if one of our group misses out?
Successful group bookings will be allocated sites together. If you are prepared to be separated, please indicate in the "additional requirements" section when you register. A group application will be either fully successful or unsuccessful.
What are concession rates for campsites?
A 10 per cent discount applies to the base price of powered and unpowered campsites for holders of eligible means-tested concession cards.
Who is eligible for concession rates?
The concession discount is available to holders of the following means-tested concession cards:
- Centrelink Health Care Card.
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession card.
- Veterans Affairs Gold Card for All Conditions.
- Veterans Affairs Gold Card War Widow.
- Veterans Affairs Gold Card TPI.
- Veterans Affairs Gold card POW & EDA.
To claim a concession discount the concession card holder must be the named person for the site. For group bookings the concession discount only applies to the site occupied by the concession card holder.
Customers requesting concession rates must be able to produce a valid concession card upon request.
Do I need to enter my payment details when submitting a booking request?
Yes. Payment details are required to submit an application. Should your request be successful, payment will be processed via our secure payment gateway.
How long do I have to pay?
Payment details collected at time of application will be used to process payment. Please ensure you have sufficient funds to cover your application in the period following the close of the ballot.
What if my credit card declines?
Please ensure that you have sufficient funds on your credit card during the allocating period. Declined cards will forfeit your booking and be allocated to the next booking on the waiting list.
What if my Credit Card is stolen or expired between the time of application to allocation?
If you have any problems with your credit card during this time please contact us asap so we can note this on your application. Failure to do this may see your booking cancelled.
Which payment methods are available?
Visa and MasterCard are accepted for payment. The applicable cards will be shown for your selection at the payment screen.
I don't have a credit card but I want to apply?
Payment details are required to submit an application. Please contact the Tidal River Information Centre to arrange an alternative form of payment if you do not have a credit card. Phone 03 5680 9555.
If I am successful but I change my mind and do not want to take up my allocation can I cancel it?
Yes, although cancellation fees apply as follows: 30 days or more notice 50 per cent of total booking amount. Less than 30 days notice 100 per cent of total booking amount.
What are the itinerary and booking numbers and do I need them?
The itinerary and booking numbers will be provided to successful applicants upon confirmation of your booking and are required to gain entry to the park and campground. For example, park staff will ask for your itinerary and booking number at park entry and use it to confirm number of people in your group, fees paid etc.
I didn’t receive a confirmation?
All applications made will automatically get a confirmation email with a reference number and outline of what you have applied for. If you haven’t received this in your inbox have a look in your junk mail. We can search your application by name to see if you have put the correct email address in. It is your responsibility to make sure you have put in all the correct details.
I can't find the answer to my question. What should I do?

The website timed out. Do I have a booking?
If your booking application was submitted you will receive an email confirmation to the email address you put in. If you are not sure please contact us via email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 84272122 between 9am – 4pm. We can check for you.
Can I apply for a powered campsite at Wilsons Prom?
Yes. 20 powered sites are available in the Tidal River campground. These are located in 2nd, 3rd & 4th Avenue (see map for details). You can select a powered site as your preference on your booking request. These sites are charged at a higher rate than the unpowered sites.
Powered site sizes vary, with the smallest site being 7x 8 metres. We will take your van or tent size into consideration at the time of allocation. Please provide adequate equipment details on your application.
