Yarra Bend Park Management Plan
Parks Victoria is developing a management plan for Yarra Bend Park to guide future management of one of Melbourne’s iconic destinations on the banks of the Yarra River.
The 265 hectare park is a significant area of bushland located only 6km from central Melbourne. The park protects the largest and most intact natural bushland near the city while providing for a wide range of compatible recreation activities.

Community engagement is an essential part of the planning process and there are formal and informal opportunities for input from the community, interested organisations and individuals. Development of the draft plan has included extensive community consultation with a range of stakeholder and interest groups, agencies and the broader community. Newsletters and other publications were prepared and made available on Parks Victoria’s website and through a range of outlets. About 50 detailed submissions were received during the initial consultation, and 55 people participated in the discussion sessions held within the park as part of the planning process.
The draft management plan will build on, reviews and updates the 1999 Yarra Bend Park Strategy Plan, the 2009 Yarra Bend Park Dog Friendly Park: Plan & Guidelines, the 2009 Yarra Bend Park Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan and the Yarra Bend Park Action Plan 2013.
