Community engagement

Community engagement is a vital part of park management. We engage with other government agencies, stakeholders and communities when key changes occur in parks, we build new experiences and when we update our management plans and strategies. Engagement ensures that we consider a range of views and perspectives, while sharing some of the opportunities and tensions we face in managing our parks and waterways.

We work to engage early, and to provide genuine consultation opportunities based around elements that can be negotiated.

Your involvement and input about the projects and destinations you care most about ensures that our park management is the best it can be, and our strategies and plans are strengthened through ongoing and invaluable consultation.

There are several ways you can get involved and have your say:

  • Keep an eye out for new consultations on Engage Victoria, the Victorian Government’s online consultation platform.
  • Sign up for our bi-monthly newsletter filled with information about how you can support nature including engagement projects.
  • Reach out to our engagement team at engage@parks.vic.gov.au

Our parks are part of an enduring cultural landscape, visit our Managing Country Together page to learn more about how we partner with Traditional Owners across Victoria.
