Notice controlling navigation in the vicinity of works - Patterson River

NOTICE CONTROLLING NAVIGATION IN THE VICINITY OF WORKS

Parks Victoria, as the declared waterway manager for the waters of the Patterson River upstream of Nepean Highway Bridge to Eumemmering Creek makes the following notice under section 211(1)(b)(i) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) (the Act).

For the purposes of works activity proposed by Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA) via technical advisors GHD and AECOM for the geotechnical investigation via drilling of three bore holes within Patterson River, the navigation and other movement of vessels in the works areas detailed below is prohibited, excluding vessels involved in the works and Parks Victoria vessels.

The works areas extend 40 metres upstream and 40 metres downstream of the drilling barge on the eastern side of the Patterson River Pedestrian Bridge as marked by lit communication buoys. The works areas will be in three sections to enable continued navigation under the bridge as follows:

Works Zone 1 – 1 August 2017 to 4 August 2017

Closure from the north shore to the middle pier as marked. Vessel traffic to utilise the southern bridge arch.

Works Zone 2 – 4 August 2017 to 8 August 2017

Closure from the south shore to the middle pier as marked. Vessel traffic to utilise the northern bridge arch.

Works Zone 3 – 8 August 2017 to 11 August 2017

Closure either side of the middle pier as marked. Vessel traffic to pass on north side of river going downstream and on the south side of the river going upstream.These dates are indicative and may be subject to change due to weather and/or operational requirements which may see the works period extended by 1-2 days.

Changes will be published on the Parks Victoria website and via a Notice to Mariners.This notice has effect for the duration of the works from Tuesday 1 August 2017 to Sunday 13 August 2017 (inclusive of weather contingency of 2 days).
