Sight-seeing

Seawinds Gardens is located just a short stroll from the Arthurs Seat Summit region. The combination of indigenous and exotic formal gardens typifies the area, whilst the addition of William Ricketts sculptures makes these gardens a very popular destination.

Seawinds Gardens encompasses a 34 hectare area at the Summit of Arthurs Seat, 305 metres above sea level. The gardens offer spectacular views of Port Phillip Bay and the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsula’s from the Bay and Northern Lookouts.

A network of walking tracks guide visitors through a diverse range of exotic and indigenous gardens. The gardens are popular for picnics with tables, electric BBQ’s and toilets available adjacent to the car park. Disabled access is available to facilities and walking tracks.

Seasonal attractions

Seawinds Gardens have something to offer all year round.

Spring brings colour as the trees and shrubs of the gardens begin to flower.
Summer offers an environment which is cooler than the surrounding coast.
Autumn showcases the gardens deciduous trees.
Winter highlights the contrast between the bare birch and willow branches against the pine and cypress. Daffodils also flower in late August.

We visited this park in May with a group of 6 wheelchairs. The park itself was stunning! The views were amazing. Unfortunately  the park wasn't too wheelchair friendly in regards to paths. From the car park there was no path access to the picnic tables, toilets or sheltered areas. To get to them we would have had to wheel over grass (which is a big no no!)
The paths that existed in other areas though were great, nice and easy to wheel along. However they didn't lead to everywhere. The parks most beautiful look out point didn't have a path that lead right up to it, only to the base of it so people in wheelchairs were not able to see the breathtaking view.
The bathroom facilities were wheelchair friendly.
Overall a very beautiful park
