This campground is on the shores of Mueller Inlet and overlooks the inlet to the river mouth and ocean. The campsites are protected by a dune system covered in Banksia Woodland and Heath.
Access is from Cann River on the Princes Highway along the unsealed Tamboon Road. Access is weather dependent.
Mueller Inlet and Thurra River campgrounds are privately managed. Payment for campsites can be made directly to the Point Hicks Lightstation manager on site. Over the Summer and Easter holiday periods, campsites are allocated through a ballot. Ballot forms can be obtained by calling the Point Hicks Lighthouse on (03) 5158 4268 or visit www.pointhicks.com.au
Over the Summer and Easter holiday periods, bookings are by ballot and application forms are required.
There are 8 unpowered sites are available, 3 of which are walk-in sites only.
Non-flush toilets are provided. Please note, motorised vessels are not permitted on Mueller Inlet.
Gas fires only are permitted.
Assistant Lightkeepers cottages are available at both Point Hicks and Gabo Island Lightstation Reserves. The nearby towns of Cann River and Mallacoota also offer campgrounds and motel accommodation.
