  • Brimbank Park will close two hours early on Thursday 23 February 2012. The entrance gate will be closed at 5:00pm for road works. The park will reopen at 8:30am the following day and return to normal (daylight savings) closing time of 7:00pm. at Maribyrnong Valley Parklands

Just a short drive from the heart of the city is the Maribyrnong Valley Parklands featuring Brimbank Park and Horseshoe Bend Farm. The parklands offer ideal settings for picnics, walks along the extensive network of trails, fishing, canoeing and bird watching, all set within peaceful parklands surrounded by prolific birdlife.

How to get there

Brimbank Park is approximately 15km north-west of Melbourne in Keilor East. Follow the Calder Freeway to the Keilor Park Drive exit. The park entrance is 500 metres on the right. (Melways Map 15 B10).

Brimbank Park is open seven days a week from 8.30am to 5.30pm (8.30am to 7.00pm during Daylight Savings)

Picnic

Brimbank Picnic Area (B)

Enjoy a picnic in pleasant surrounds. Gas barbecues, picnic tables and toilets are provided.

Brimbank Picnic Area (A) and Visitor Centre

This picnic area is located in close proximity to the Visitor Centre and Carpark A. It is one of several available in the park. Facilities include a picnic shelter, gas barbecues, toilet block with disabled access and ample space for recreation activities.

Brimbank Picnic Area (C)

This picnic area has gas barbecues, picnic tables, a playground and toilets.

Leaping Lizard Cafe

The Leaping Lizard CafĂ© is open during park hours on weekends 8:30am to 5:00pm and from Wednesday through to Friday during park hours. Come in and meet the friendly staff and enjoy anything from a coffee to a sandwich or an ice-cream.

Enjoy orienteering! There is a permanent orienteering course set up in Brimbank Park. Pick up a map from the Orienteering Service of Australia or ring 9017 4835.
