Located in a tranquil area of the campground within easy walking distance to the beach, Wilderness Retreats at Wilsons Promontory National Park provide a “close to nature” experience of bush camping with all the conveniences of modern cabins.
The Retreats sit on an innovative modular galvanised steel frame that does not require concrete footings. This is low impact accommodation that touches the earth lightly.

All Wilderness Retreats have:
- a timber deck and a lockable door
- an ensuite with shower, hand basin and toilet (towels, handmade soaps and shampoo provided)
- a heater
- a queen size bed and 2 bed side tables (quality bed linen, warm doonas, blankets and hot water
- bottles provided)
- a made up trundle single bed (located under the queen size bed)
- a futon chair that converts to a single bed
- a blanket box
- a small fridge
- tea and coffee making facilities
- table and chairs inside and on the deck
- lights inside and on the deck

Please note that smoking is not permitted inside the Wilderness Retreats.
Wilderness Retreats are set up for couples but can sleep doubles or up to four people by making use of the trundle bed and futon. To preserve the experience for all guests, and allow wildlife to roam safely, no cars are allowed inside the Wilderness Retreat area. There is a car park for guests conveniently located near the Retreat. A luggage trolley is available at the car park to assist with the short walk to your Retreat.
Guests can make use of the communal kitchen that is opened using the key to the Wilderness Retreat. The well equipped kitchen contains:
- cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils and tea towels
- stainless steel benches and sinks
- a 4 burner gas cook top
- a full size fridge
- hot and cold water
- tea and coffee making facilities, a microwave oven and a toaster

There is also a covered, tranquil BBQ area with seating for guests outside the kitchen. Guests just need to bring their own food and drinks.

To make your experience enjoyable, we recommend you also bring warm clothes, comfortable shoes, insect repellent, and a torch.

The Tidal River General Store is located within the campground and only a short walk from the Wilderness Retreats. The General Store includes a small supermarket, takeaway food, newsagency, small pharmacy range and internet facilities.
The café next to the General Store is a great place to stop for a latte and a read of the paper. It offers all day breakfast and bistro style meals for lunch and dinner during peak season.
