Seasonal road closures

Many roads and tracks are closed to vehicle traffic each year. These tracks are closed to vehicles for visitor safety, to maintain water quality and prevent erosion during the wetter months as rain and snow softens the tracks, making them vulnerable to damage.

Seasonal road closures generally operate from the long weekend in June through to the end of October, but may be extended due to seasonal conditions.

Seasonal road closures

Seasonal road closures for 2014 commence Thursday 12 June 2014 (the Thursday after the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June) and finish on the 30 October 2014 (the Thursday before the Melbourne Cup Day long weekend).

Some tracks are subject to early closures and some tracks extend past the general closure period up until the end of November.
