Seasonal road closures

Many roads and tracks are closed to vehicle traffic each year. These tracks are closed to vehicles for visitor safety, to maintain water quality and prevent erosion during the wetter months as rain and snow softens the tracks, making them vulnerable to damage.

Seasonal road closures generally operate from the long weekend in June through to the end of October, but may be extended due to seasonal conditions.

2015 Seasonal road closures

The majority of seasonal road closures for 2015 will commence on Thursday 11 June 2015 (the Thursday after the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June) and finish on Thursday 29 October 2015 (the Thursday before the Melbourne Cup Day long weekend). Some tracks are subject to early closures and some tracks extend past the general closure period up until the end of November.

Early seasonal road closures

Early seasonal road closures apply to areas within the Alpine National Park from 1 May 2015 and Great Otway National Park from 1 June 2015. See Map 35AMap 35C, Map 35E, Map 35G and Map 35H in Alpine National Park and Map 20A, Map 20B, Map 20C and Map 20D in Great Otway National Park for locations of the closures.
