Tankerton Foreshore (The Waters of Western Port Bay, Tankerton Jetty, French Island National Park)

Tankerton Foreshore is located on French Island in Western Port Bay and welcomes both park visitors and local residents who access the island via Tankerton Jetty. It offers a public toilet, parking for residents and a small grassy foreshore with a picnic table.

Walking, cycling, and fishing are popular activities to embark on from the foreshore. Come prepared with food and water as there is limited supplies with only a general store located a 3km, one hour walk from the foreshore.

Ensure you have checked the Ferry times and know when the last ferry departs either to Stony Point or Cowes, as this is your only way to get off the island. Camping is available on French Island at Fairhaven campgrounds approximately 5km from the foreshore, however bookings are essential.

Koalas are in abundance and you will be able to spot them sleeping in the eucalypt trees which line the trails and roads. Be sure to keep to existing paths and tracks if heading out for a walk as snakes are active and prevalent in the warmer months.

Before you visit check the Fire Danger Rating and for days of Total Fire Ban at www.emergency.vic.gov.au, on the VicEmergency smartphone app or call the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226.
