The project

 This project is being delivered on Gunaikurnai and Taungurung Country.

Camping in the remote and beautiful Victorian High Country is an experience many people enjoy. Popular campgrounds across parks in the Alpine region of Victoria will receive upgrades. These will include new toilets. At Talbotville, in addition to a new toilet, fire pits and picnic tables will also be installed.

The upgrades will improve the experience for visitors to these parks across Victoria’s alpine region

Project funding

This project has been funded $605,000 from Victoria’s Great Outdoors. 

Victoria’s Great Outdoors is $106.6 million investment by the Victorian Government into better campgrounds, walking trails, 4WD tracks and visitor facilities across Victoria’s parks and state forests.

Environment and cultural heritage management

We are seeking key environmental permits and approvals. Cultural heritage is being assessed to ensure it is protected throughout the delivery of works.

Who are we working with?

Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation, and Taungurung Land and Waters Council.

Check Alpine National Park, Howqua Hills Historic Area and Grant Historic Area park pages to stay up to date with temporary closures expected during 2024.
