Otways Iconic 4WD experience upgrades

The project
This project is being delivered on Gadubanud and Gulidjan Country.
The beautiful Great Otway National Park offers a range of opportunities for those who love 4WDing, camping and bushwalking.
Three locations will be upgraded as part of this project.
Aire Crossing Campground - the campground layout will be improved, a new shelter with a long table in the middle of the picnic ground, new picnic tables and fire rings will be installed.
Grey River Picnic Area – new picnic tables, wood-fired barbecues and directional and information signs will be installed.
Godfreys Gravesite and Shipwreck Day Visitor Area – sections of stairs will be replaced and upgraded, and sections of the carpark resurfaced to improve accessibility. New signage will be installed.

Visitors
The upgrades will make it safer and easier for a wide range of people to enjoy the attractions along a popular 4WD route in the park.
Environment
Improved tracks, surface works, drainage and other work in carparks and campgrounds will protect vegetation and cultural heritage by helping people and vehicles stay in designated areas.
Project funding
This project has been funded with $543,581 from Victoria’s Great Outdoors.Victoria’s Great Outdoors is $106.6 million investment by the Victorian Government into better campgrounds, walking trails, 4WD tracks and visitor facilities across Victoria’s parks and state forests.
Environment and cultural heritage management
Key environmental permits and approvals will be sought from Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. A Cultural Heritage Management Plan will be prepared.
